Chester County Home to Pair of ZIP Codes with the Fastest-Growing Rent in Pennsylvania

A Stacker analysis of rental rates in Chester County shows that two of its ZIP Codes are among the 30 with the fastest-growing rent in Pennsylvania.

Stacker compiled the list using data from Zillow, which parsed its Observed Rent Index by ZIP Codes. The ranking that resulted reflects rent changes for all homes and apartments in the past year, as of January 2021.

Out of the ZIP Codes in Chester County, Wayne’s 19087 — which also covers parts of Montgomery and Delaware counties — ranked highest. It came in at No. 23, with a one-year rent increase of 3.8 percent. It also recorded a five-year rent increase of 13.4 percent.

Currently, the typical Wayne rent is $2,080, which is 28.1 percent above the typical rent in the Philadelphia metro.

Next is 19380 (West Chester), with an increase of 2.9 percent over the last year, as well as a 15.5 percent increase over the last five years. Its typical rent is currently at $1,795, or 10.5 percent above the rate in Philadelphia.
