PennDOT Crews Working on Downingtown’s Route 30 After Pipe Failure

PennDOT crews have been working around the clock to fix a pipe failure that caused massive road damage on Route 30 in Downingtown.

Crews from PennDOT have been working on a section of Route 30 in Downingtown which collapsed due to a pipe failure, causing massive damage to the road, reports staff for 6abc.

The collapse has led to substantial traffic disruptions, reducing the roadway to a single lane and causing delays. While traffic on Route 30 is already prevalent, this will cause even more interruptions. Travelers should be prepared to add extra time for commutes.

“It’s a major route through this region and when it’s taken out of play or it’s hindered like it is right now, communities like downtown are going to suffer a little bit,” said Mayor Phil Dague.

Coatesville resident Grace Matters was one of many who expressed frustration over congestion and merging difficulties.

In response, PennDOT is working 24/7 to repair the damage. The left lane closure is expected to last for approximately a week, with a tentative completion date of March 24 pending weather conditions.
