One of the Best State Parks to Visit in Winter is in Chester County
It’s still possible to enjoy the great outdoors at Pennsylvania state parks during the winter season, writes Kalena Thomhave for The Keystone.
Even though you may miss the warm weather, there are plenty of outdoor winter activities, including ice skating, skiing, hiking, and more!
French Creek State Park in Elverson is both a summer and winter oasis. No matter the season, the sights at the park are unbelievable. If you’re an avid camper, you don’t have to stop in the winter. Camping, or even glamping, is an excellent choice for a weekend getaway.
The campground is open from March through the first week of January. For guests who want to stay overnight at French Creek State Park during the coldest weeks of the year, heated cabins with private bathrooms are available to book.
Be sure to take in a number of activities during your stay, such as ice skating on natural ice, cross-country skiing, and sledding. If you’re up for it, you can take a wintry hike along the park’s 35 miles of trails.
