If you’re a fan of running for exercise, for fun, or to just get some air, French Creek State Park is one the best places to run in the winter, or visit to immerse yourself in nature, writes Bailey King for Philadelphia Magazine.

The magazine lists several other trail spots that are in and around Philadelphia, but the Elverson trails are the ultimate pick for Chester County. With nearly 8,000 acres of land preserved, it’s a sanctuary for people and wildlife.

Carl Ewald, who is the founder of Philly Run Fest and race director for Great American Brewery Runs, definitely recommends it.

“Located one hour northwest of the city, French Creek is easy to get to and peaceful in the winter, with a nice big lake. This is definitely a hilly park, so I would avoid it if there’s significant snow,” said Ewald.

Open sunrise to sunset every day of the year, the park can accommodate anyone’s running preferences.
