As the weather gets warmer, Chester Countians love to be outside and enjoy the sunshine after a long winter. Here are some fun events to attend in the area while getting your daily dose of Vitamin D, writes Gina Lizzo for Main Line Today.

West Chester always has an abundance of things to do. First up on the calendar is April’s First Friday, with more information available at Downtown West Chester.

This First Friday features an adult Easter egg hunt. Walk through the main streets to find eggs hidden in and outside local businesses. They’re filled with gift cards to restaurants or shops, as well as coupons to your favorite places.

On April 7, Brandywine Hills Point-to-Point Races kicks off steeplechase season for junior riders. Four pony races and a sidesaddle event with proceeds benefiting Brandywine Red Clay Alliance are a good way to spend your day.

Later in the month is the West Chester Film Festival from April 26-28. This international short film festival steps into its 18th year of welcoming independent filmmakers. At the end of the weekend, the Chester Awards will take place to celebrate the best work in each category.

Then in Chester Springs, the Yellow Springs Art Show will take place from April 27 to May 12. In its 51st year, the art show will feature over 3,500 works diverse in content, media, and talent.
