Recognizing old Wawas even if they aren't Wawas anymore is one of the seven unique things about Wawas.

People in New Jersey love the beach, pork roll, and Danny DeVito and New Jersey Wawas, writes Chelsea Corrine for 94.5 PST.

Wawa’s founder happens to be from New Jersey, after all.

Here are the seven things that make Wawa a unique experience.

  • Everyone holds the door. It doesn’t matter who you are. People will hold the door waiting for you to get there.
  • The parking lot is every man for himself.  Nice at the door, brutal in the parking lot. It can be a bit dangerous so be careful.
  • We all know our sub order. The regulars are pros on the touch screens and have their orders memorized.
  • We recognize old Wawas and think good thoughts. We even spot the ones that have been converted for other uses, thanks to the cobblestone wall
  • There is no dress code. A bridal gown, a tux, pajamas. It’s all good. No one is judging.
  • You can go into the store and grab food while you’re getting gas.
  • You have to stop there before hitting the beach to get your giant bottle of water, a sub, chips, and a random snack.
