President Joe Biden visited a Wawa with Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker Thursday, April 18, at about 3 PM, write Anna Orso and Emily Bloch for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Biden was actually visiting North Philadelphia with members of the Kennedy family during a campaign event, but included a visit to the Wawa store at 6th and Chestnut Streets before leaving the city.

He reportedly ordered an Italian hoagie with American cheese, a black-and-white milkshake, a dozen pretzels, a dozen assorted pastries, two orders of mozzarella sticks, two bottles of Coke and a low-fat, strawberry banana yogurt

The Wawa visit balances an earlier visit Biden made to a Sheetz store in Pittsburgh

In related Wawa news, the Delaware County-based convenience store company grew its empire a little bit when it broke ground Wednesday, April 17, for its first Sheetz territory Wawa store, located in Dauphin County.

The store is expected to open Sept. 18, with five other Central Pennsylvania Wawa’s slated to open this year.

Plans call for 40 stores from Harrisburg to State College by 2030, according to Wawa President Brian Schaller.
