West Chester came out on top as the most popular market among Zillow surfers in 2023, according to a new report by the real estate website.

While the West Coast dominated 2021 and the Midwest came out on top last year, but the Northeast ruled this year’s list. In 2023, Zillow surfers primarily gravitated toward smaller cities.

West Chester was overall the most popular market among surfers.

Strong interest among potential buyers resulted in an increase in home values of around 8 percent over the year. Currently, a typical home in this quaint town of about 20,000 people is worth around $584,000, which puts it among the more expensive cities in Pennsylvania. However, that is still relatively affordable when compared to larger nearby cities, like New York City and Washington, D.C.

The town found its place in the top 100 cities for Zillow page views per listing among the close to 2,300 that were included in the rankings. This means that West Chester far outperformed its size. Nearly two-thirds of those views were from outside of the town, indicating a possible interest that people may be looking to move here.

Other popular markets included Nashua, New Hampshire; West Hartford, Connecticut; and Twinsburg, Ohio.
