Scott Case, a Malvern resident, embarked on the ride of a lifetime as he cycled over 225 miles to raise awareness and funds for cancer research, reports NBC10 Philadelphia.

Case, although claiming not to be a professional cyclist, trained all summer to prepare for the Coast 2 Coast 4 Cancer bike ride. For nearly 10 years, the Bristol Myers Squibb team has come together for the bike ride as it exists worldwide in different countries.

Case wore a Bristol Myers Squibb cycling shirt and gear as he started the first of his three-day trek. To complete the journey, he cycled about 75 miles per day — a challenging task for anyone, especially a 6’7 biker. But he didn’t let anything stop him from raising awareness for the cancer that took his mother.

“Everyone has their own individual stories of who they’re riding for,” said Case. “My mom was a very kind person, very loving. Everybody enjoyed hanging out with her.”

Despite beating breast cancer, his mother was dealt another blow: lung cancer. She passed away at 62 years old. Her strength now lives on in her son as he traveled more than 200 miles for her memory from Pittsburgh to the Jersey Shore.
