West Chester Veteran Gives Back to Troops Stationed Overseas Through Power of Music

Jason Reed, a West Chester native who served a total of six years in the military, is giving back to troops stationed overseas through the power of music, writes Nick Iadonisi for 6ABC.

Reed is the lead singer of Superunknown, a Chris Cornell tribute band.

“Being in this band, I don’t think there’s a better scenario for somebody like me,” he said.

In addition to playing locally, the band also tours the world and brings the music to troops who are missing home.

“As a veteran, that’s a dream come true,” said Reed.

Superunknown is preparing to embark on its longest tour to date. The band members aim to bring a little piece of home to those who serve the nation abroad.

“They actually thank us for being there, for being away from our families and traveling that far to come and put on a show for them which I just think is an incredible gesture,” said drummer and producer Ron DiSilvestro.

Reed, whose son also served, is an author as well. He wrote a book titled Letters Home to chronicle his and his son’s experiences in the military.
