Tara Metzler-Armento, a coach at Metzler’s Gymnastics in Downingtown for over two decades, is a well known name in the town’s fitness circles, along with her husband Mike, who owns CrossFit Rock Solid, writes Mac Bullock for the Daily Voice.

The family was forced to give health and well-being an even more central role in their lives after Metzler-Armento was diagnosed with a brain tumor in May.

Since then, the gymnastics teacher has undergone surgery and started treatment at University of Pennsylvania. She is also participating in groundbreaking clinical trials at Lenox Hill Hospital, which requires frequent trips to New York City.

To help with the growing costs related to her disease, Metzler-Armento’s friend Lauren Delaney has started a GoFundMe for the family.

The couple and their daughters Carmela and Giuliana “have been pillars of strength in our community, extending their helping hands to numerous families in need,” wrote Delaney. “Today, we have the opportunity to give back and show our unwavering support.”

The community’s response was fast and amazing. Since the campaign launched on June 26, and more than $47,000 has already been raised to help the family.
