Reanna McGibboney, a Chester Springs gymnast, has been excelling during her first year at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, writes Neil Geoghegan for The Daily Local News

The 19-year-old did not expect to end up in a school that was more than 900 miles from home, but that was the best option to further her gymnastic career. The move has proven to be the best choice for the teenager.

In just her first year as a student-athlete at the NCAA Division III school, McGibboney has made an indelible impression on her team by leading the women’s gymnastics squad to a national championship.

While this was the university’s second consecutive National Collegiate Gymnastics Association team title, McGibboney was the undeniable star during the competition that took place last spring at Winona State University in Minnesota. She earned All-American honors in the vault as well as floor exercise competition.

“I had a blast,” said McGibboney. “I think it was even better than I imagined it would be. As a freshman, I was excited just to be on this team – it was like the little girl in me.”
