Downingtown Country Club Owner Credits Soaring Golf Popularity for Acquisition
Downingtown Country Club owner Ron Jaworski is cashing in on the boom in golf players. The former Eagles quarterback recently purchased the Back Creek Golf Club in Middletown, Delaware, and is eyeing properties in the future, writes Ryan Sharrow for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
This will be the eighth property owned by the golf mogul, and he credits both the population growth of Middletown and the soaring popularity of the sport as the impetus for his purchase.
“We came out of Covid and golf just took off. There are more women on golf courses than I’ve ever seen. We have waiting lists for memberships,” said Jaworski.
According to the National Golf Foundation, there’s been a record of 3.3 million people playing golf for the first time.
Jaworski said his company is in “acquisition mode.” he is focusing on the Mid-Atlantic region but is also planning to visit Naples and Palm Beach to look at properties.
