Phil Sutliff, who grew up in the Lehigh Valley after his family moved there from Florida, is the Head of Business Banking at Citadel Credit Union.

“What I enjoy most about my job is helping grow our communities by investing in the overall health of local businesses,” he said. “Businesses across the area have experienced several years of challenging economic conditions. At Citadel, we built the business bank to be part of the solution. A healthy business directly contributes to healthy neighborhoods and communities. I get to be to part of that every single day.”

Sutliff, who started a lawn-mowing business when he was 14 years old, earned a bachelor’s degree in Business from the University of Valley Forge and is currently studying for his MBA at Crown College. He credits his first supervisor in the banking industry, Mike Dorneman, with having the biggest impact on his career.

“Mike saw potential in me that I didn’t see in myself at the time, and he pushed me to believe in myself and accomplish great things,” said Sutliff. “I hope to have the same impact Mike had on me for as many people as I can throughout my career.”

Sutliff’s proudest professional achievement was helping to launch Citadel Business Banking on Aug. 1, 2022.

His favorite Chester County nightspot is Phoenixville.

“I’m a big fan of downtown Phoenixville,” he said. “It has so many great restaurants and a wonderful environment to enjoy year-round. A couple favorites are Il Granaio and Bluebird Distilling.”

Sutliff and the rest of the 2023 Class of VISTA Millennial Superstars will be honored at the Awards Reception & Celebration on Thursday, May 18 at Penn State Great Valley.
