Bucks County native Greg Rice is a supervisor for CASA Youth Advocates, a social services organization that champions equitable health outcomes, educational opportunities, and stable home environments for abused and neglected children and youth.

At CASA, he supervises advocates and the youth they serve throughout Chester County.

“One aspect I love about working at CASA is the genuine, transparent, child-focused approach,” said Rice. “It’s amazing watching youth connect with advocates and develop stable connections with safe, trusted adults in their communities. CASA is a true conduit for the meaning and purpose behind why so many of us enter the social work profession.”

Rice, who began working when he was 14 years old as a summer camp counselor, graduated from New Hope-Solebury High School and earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Social Work from West Chester University. He credits Brandy Wolfe, his first supervisor in his first full-time position in the social work field, with having the biggest impact on his career.

“Her guidance and support were integral to my future,” said Rice. “With every year, I realize the significant of the positive impact she had and how important that first experience is for a new social worker.”

Although he was named Chester County’s juvenile probation officer of the year in 2018, Rice said there is no award that can compare to the experience of having a positive impact in the life of a young person.

“I’m proud just knowing CASA is a positive part of their story,” he said.

Rice’s favorite Chester County restaurant is Saloon 151 in West Chester.

Rice and the rest of the 2023 Class of VISTA Millennial Superstars will be honored at the Awards Reception & Celebration on Thursday, May 18 at Penn State Great Valley.
