Brigid Gallagher, a Haverford native and Archbishop Carroll High School graduate, is the Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement at the West Chester University Foundation.

“I coordinate engagement opportunities for WCU alumni all over the world, as well as serve as the direct liaison for alumni chapters and clubs to help connect them to the university they love,” said Gallagher, who earned a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from WCU. “I transferred to WCU as a student in 2009, and my experience on campus changed my life. The WCU community became a family, and this job has afforded me the opportunity to connect with other alumni, to learn about the legacy of WCU and allow those relationships to direct the growth of the university’s future.”

Gallagher, who began working at Rita’s Italian Ice when she was 15 years old, credits Sabrina Rightmer, a 2021 VISTA Millennial Superstar and WCU’s Director of Communications and Marketing for Student Affairs, with having the biggest impact on her career.

“Sabrina radiates kindness in a way that makes everyone feel seen, heard, and valued,” said Gallagher. “From a mentor as a student, to a colleague, to a forever friend, she continues to have a tremendous impact on me personally and professionally. She has championed my every endeavor, celebrated my success, and supported me through challenges, making sure I can see everything from a new perspective. She is quick to make a friend everywhere she goes and has been setting the example to follow even when she doesn’t know it. I’m fortunate to know her and even more fortunate to call her a friend. Everyone needs a Sabrina in their life.”

Gallagher’s proudest professional achievements are all the unexpected impacts of her work.

“There is no real way to know how much of an impact you have on those around you, but the glimpses I’ve had along the way have been the greatest encouragement,” she said. “Every single ‘thank you’ through the years and so many more ‘little’ moments make me proud to see how much further my reach goes beyond any profession. Everyone has the capacity to change someone’s life, so don’t ever underestimate how great your impact is even in the smallest moments.”

Gallagher’s favorite Chester County restaurant is Sedona Taphouse in West Chester.

Gallagher and the rest of the 2023 Class of VISTA Millennial Superstars will be honored at the Awards Reception & Celebration on Thursday, May 18 at Penn State Great Valley.
