West Chester native and Henderson High School graduate Amelia Rayburn-Pizzica is the Director of Education Programs at the Domestic Violence Center of Chester County.

“What I enjoy most about my role has been the ability to travel and meet leaders and community members from across Chester County — learning about what makes each individual community beautiful and unique,” she said. “I also appreciate that I have the opportunity and support from our CEO/leadership to stretch my creative muscles and take actionable steps to improve accessibility to and expand the reach of our programs and services.”

Rayburn-Pizzica, who began working when she was 14 years old as a cashier at Giunta’s Thriftway in West Chester, earned a bachelor’s degree in English Literature from West Chester University. She credits her organization’s CEO, Dolly Wideman-Scott, with having the biggest impact on her career.

“She has been a trailblazer and a force in the movement to end domestic violence for over 40 years,” said Rayburn-Pizzica. “I am extremely grateful to have her guidance, support, and trust as I develop into a community leader.”

Rayburn-Pizzica’s proudest professional achievements are the several countywide events she has taken the lead in developing and expanding.

“Also, I originally began with DVCCC as a volunteer, so I’m proud to have transitioned that commitment into a career I can find purpose in and be proud of,” she said. “I’m humbled to be able to wake up and serve Chester County — my home, my neighbors — every single day.”

Her favorite Chester County restaurants are Taco Mar (for lunch) in West Chester and Victory Brewing Company (for dinner).

Rayburn-Pizzica and the rest of the 2023 Class of VISTA Millennial Superstars will be honored at the Awards Reception & Celebration on Thursday, May 18 at Penn State Great Valley.
