Stargazers winery is one of the hundreds that tourists flock to in Pennsylvania.

When it comes to sightseeing, tourists may flock to the Keystone State to visit Philly, Pittsburgh, or venture out to Amish country. Yet, what may come as a surprise to many is that the state’s wine industry attracts over two million visitors a year, writes Holly Herman for the West Chester Patch.

There are over 300 wineries in Pennsylvania, outnumbering covered bridges, according to Pennsylvania Wine. One of these wineries to check out is Stargazers Winery in Coatesville.

Jason Kirkpatrick, the owner of the winery, spoke to The Patch about his business and the Pennsylvania wine industry.

“We had a good harvest here. We have a full production facility here. We ferment the wine here. The wine is sold in Pennsylvania state stores,” said Kirkpatrick.

Kirkpatrick and Michael Vorauer purchased the winery from the founders in 2019. Visitors can taste the wine and snack on charcuteries around fire pits.

Stargazers offers a variety of wine including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Riesling. Despite the drought over the summer, the winery was able to thrive.

“Grapes grow very well in Pennsylvania,” said Kirkpatrick.
