Candy the three-legged husky is looking for her forever home.

A beautiful blue-eyed husky is up for adoption thanks to the efforts of LaMancha Animal Rescue in East Fallowfield. Nine-month-old Candy is a three-legged pup who was surrendered in June after suffering severe abuse, writes Jen Samuel for Daily Local News.

An adoption center Derwood, Maryland took in this poor pup back in June. Candy arrived at Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center with multiple broken bones, and a missing right-hind leg. The adoption center reached out to LaMancha to see if they could take on the care of Candy, and the non-profit agreed.

LaMancha is special due to its successful efforts in rehoming special needs dogs. This now 45-acre rescue farm started in 2001 and over the past two decades rescued nearly 15,000 animals including many tripod dogs. Currently 47 dogs and puppies are up for adoption as well as 30 felines.

The homestead on Doe Run Road is also where goats, cows, horses, pigs, chickens, turkeys, and even an emu roam. Thirteen dogs currently live there long-term. The rescue has over 100 volunteers to help nurture the animals.

Candy is looking for a home that has a fenced in yard and little to no stairs. Having a pool would be a plus since she loves water.

“Once she arrived it was clear that she is the sweetest dog who probably does not even remember ever having four legs as she is so young and she runs around and plays without a care in the world,” said Geoff Player, media liaison for LaMancha.
