Brave little corgi Arthur managed to survive for days on his own after being shot in the head before finding refuge and care at the Pennsylvania SPCA affiliate Main Line Animal Rescue in Phoenixville, writes Stephanie Farr for the Philadelphia Inquirer

The pooch was found on a family farm in Lancaster County and brought to Main Line Animal Rescue with a large wound on his forehead. An X-ray showed he was shot but the bullet missed his brain. Arthur received treatment and is already doing much better.

“Luckily for him, it’s been a little over a week and it’s healing up really, really well,” said Alicia Royer, the PSPCA veterinarian at Main Line Animal Rescue. “He’s such a happy guy. By the second day after he woke up from anesthesia, he was giving us his cute little butt wiggles.”

Arthur is expected to make a full recovery and is currently enjoying being fully cared for by the rescue staff.

Investigators with PSPCA’s Humane Law Enforcement team are working on finding out what happened to the corgi.
