Tuesday with Michael: The 2 Key Questions for Maximum Personal Effectiveness

By

Michael Gidlewski

What are your High Payoff Activities (H.P.A.’s)? In other words, what do you do best?

What do you do that generates revenue for you?

What is your greatest area of expertise and your greatest strength?

What do you do that no one else can do?

What is the highest and best use of your time, effort, and energy to achieve the results you want to achieve?

Concentrate and focus your aim like a laser beam on those HPA’s that will advance you in your personal and professional life.

Sometimes we get stuck, and we do not stop to think about and examine these vital issues. If you do not know what your HPA’s are, what are your chances of spending more time on them?

Look at everything you do from a Return-on-Investment (ROI) perspective. What is your payoff for the time, energy, and effort expended? How much time are you putting into activities that do not give you a payoff?

Eliminate them and you’ve much more time to spend on activities that can have a huge payoff.

There are two questions that you can ask on a regular basis to keep yourself focused on completing tasks and reaching your goals on schedule.

The first question is “What are my highest payoff activities?” In other words, “What is the best use of my time, effort, and energy to reach my goals?”

After you have recorded your High Payoff Activities, estimate how much time you currently spend on them per week and how much time you would like to spend on them.

The first step to becoming more effective is clearly defining your High Payoff & Wealth Generating Activities.

To get the greatest results from this exercise, review your high payoff activities with the person you report to or your coach.

When you have clearly defined your HPA, you have laid the foundation for becoming more effective and increasing your personal productivity.

My challenge to you is to focus on HPA’s for the next 21 days and sit back and enjoy the results.

The second question you can ask continually is Peter Drucker’s question “What can I and only I do, that if done well, will make a real difference?”

It is one of the best of all questions for achieving personal effectiveness. Your job is to be clear about the answer and then to start and work on this task before anything else.

What one thing could you do in your personal life (that you are not doing consistently now) that if you did it on a regular basis, would make a tremendous, positive difference in your life?

Everyone is blessed with a unique ability, a unique set of skills, talents, and abilities. Find them, refine them, build on them and let them carry you toward greater success!
