Chester County came first with an overall paycheck friendliness index of 63.59.

According to the report, the average semi-monthly paycheck in the county is $1,602, higher than the $1,589 state average. This puts it in fifth place statewide.

Meanwhile, the purchasing power in the county is 2.44, which is significantly higher than the state’s 1.53 as well as the highest of all the counties.

Chester County was also the county with the lowest unemployment rate at only 4.3 percent. The state unemployment rate is 6.3 percent.

However, the county failed to rank among the top ten in income growth. It came in at No. 18 with 3.1 percent growth. This is still above the state’s average which currently sits at 2.7 percent.
