West Chester residents looking to satisfy their sweet tooth have another spot to choose from with the opening of a new candy shop, Kilwins, writes Bill Rettew for the Daily Local News.

The store offers chocolates, fudge, and ice cream. It opened earlier this week at the former offices of State Sen. Andy Dinniman at 1 North Church Street.

The franchise’s owners, Glenn and Sarah Simpson, also run a Kilwins in King of Prussia. The pair met working at a Kilwins in Rehoboth Beach.

“She taught me how to make fudge,” said Glenn. “And we’ve been making sweets ever since.”

“Glenn took a summer job to make caramel and never left,” said Sarah.

Seventy percent of their product is made onsite. Among the goodies that are available are Mackinac Island-style fudge, caramel apples, homemade brittle, and chocolate-covered pretzels.

The store also offers Kilwins’ famous ice cream, nested in waffle cones.

The couple is happy they were able to open a shop in their hometown.

“It’s so nice to do it in our hometown and have our friends and neighbors stop by,” said Sarah.
