M&M’s have now overtaken Skittles in a sweet-tooth battle for the most popular Halloween candy in Pennsylvania, with more than 290,000 pounds consumed in the months leading up to the celebration, according to the Candy Store.

The Candy Store, the nation’s premier bulk candy dealer, has combed through 10 years of sales data focusing on the period leading up to Halloween to create an interactive map of the favorite candy by state. To get the most accurate picture, the Candy Store also consulted with major candy manufacturers and distributors who contributed to and helped verify the data.

When it comes to the favorite trick-or-treat candy in the Keystone State, the battle for the first place is fierce. This year, M&M’s managed to emerge as the winner by a very tight margin with 290,762 pounds, compared to Skittles’ 281,847 pounds.

Pennsylvania’s own Hershey’s Mini Bars, surprisingly, only came in third at just 150,372 pounds. However, Hershey did take the top spot in Nevada where consumers purchased 322,884 pounds of Hershey’s Kisses.

The other states that share a similar taste with Pennsylvania are California and North Carolina, both of which ranked M&M’s as the most popular choice.
