Home of the Sparrow Seeks Supplies to Help Women and Children on Giving Tuesday and Beyond
Home of the Sparrow in Exton is encouraging those that can, to consider donating household items this Giving Tuesday Nov. 30. Items will be distributed to women and mothers in Chester County who are facing homelessness.
The Tuesday following Thanksgiving is a National Day of Giving. After spending time with family on Thanksgiving and shopping on Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday is for thinking of others.
Home of the Sparrow uses Giving Tuesday (and the entire month of December) to fill its “Giving Garage.” The literal garage is where “to-go bags” are packed throughout the year.
These bags contain essential household items that are costly and not covered by the food benefits program. Receiving these items at no cost enables program participants to re-direct the savings to pay for other necessities such as rent, food and utilities.
Home of the Sparrow is collecting the following critical household items:
- Fuel gift cards
- Bleach
- Cleaning products
- Laundry detergent
- Paper towels
- Unscented trash bags
Here’s how you can help:
- Organize a Drive. Organize an item drive for #WinterWhiteOut at your company, church or club.
- Drop off #WinterWhiteOut Items. Shop for the items listed above and schedule a drop-off at the Home of the Sparrow office, 969 E. Swedesford Road in Exton in December. Drop-offs must be scheduled by contacting Meghan Ervine at mervine@homeofthesparrow.org, or call 610-647-4940.
- Make a Donation. Cash donations will be used to purchased needed items on your behalf.
Home of the Sparrow is a nonprofit that believes no woman or child should ever experience the trauma of homelessness in Chester County. With over a quarter-century of experience, Home of the Sparrow uses a holistic strategy to help single women and mothers who are facing a housing crisis.
