Residents of Retirement Community in Downingtown Ensure Hurricane Ida Toy Donations Look Their Best

By

Seniors at Ashbridge Manor Senior Living in Downingtown teamed with a local nonprofit to give some needed TLC to toys meant to replace those lost in Hurricane Ida. Maggie Kent assembled the details for 6ABC.

Ashbridge Manor residents received a bundle of new stuffed animals to disinfect and freshen. The initiative was part of Gina Campbell’s “Fozzy Bear Operation Everybody Needs a Friend” toy drive.

“I was seeing all the new reports of everyone losing everything, but I wasn’t seeing anything happening for the kids,” said Campbell.

She added that she was grateful for the outpouring of support from the community. In total, donors supplied more than 300 new toys.

The seniors who ensured that the new toys were in tip-top shape met some of the deserving recipients during an “adoption event” hosted by Ashbridge Manor Senior Living.
