The Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce invites you to learn how to unlock your company’s potential to be a top employer at the next session of its popular Business Owners in the Know series.

On Wednesday, June 23 from 11:45 AM-1 PM at the YMCA of Greater Brandywine, John Durso, the Chief Operating Officer of American Community Journals, will share practical techniques that you can implement immediately to turn your company into a top employer.

GWCC’s Business Owners in the Know series, sponsored by West Chester University, is a series of professional development programs designed specifically for the region’s businesses and business owners.

American Community Journals is the parent company of VISTA Today, Chester County’s primary source for positive, upbeat business news. Behind its success is a strong culture, with well-defined values, and a mission that its employees rally around with every interaction.

On Wednesday, Durso will discuss the processes of understanding what the culture of your company truly is, or how to define and create one.

“Having a well-defined culture is critical now thanks to the pandemic,” said Durso, who specializes in culture building, leadership training, and sales strategies. “As we start to go back to normal, the employed and the unemployed will soon be storming the job market in search for better ‘fits.’ It is very expensive to hire someone who turns out to not match your culture.”

Durso will also explore techniques that will pay dividends in everything a business owner does moving forward.

VISTA Today – which celebrates Chester County’s quality of place and economic health through its stories about local commerce, culture, and community – enjoyed explosive growth in 2020. It registered 2.65 million page views last year, an increase of 257 percent from 2019.

Register for Wednesday’s session.
