Local Business Consultant Known for Helping Companies Reach Their Next Level Joins VISTA Today as COO

By

John Durso – an experienced businessman whose consulting company, Brilliant Sales Strategies, specializes in culture building, leadership training, and sales strategies – has joined American Community Journals as its Chief Operating Officer.

American Community Journals is the parent company of VISTA Today, MONTCO Today, DELCO Today, and BUCKSCO Today. With more than 100,000 subscribers in the Delaware Valley, these online news journals celebrate each county’s quality of place and economic health by sharing positive, upbeat stories about local commerce, culture, and community.

Durso, a native of Roxborough and a resident of Drexel Hill, has spent the majority of his professional career as a banking executive, helping his clients become more successful business owners and connecting them with each other.

“I believe that incredible people with amazing talents are all around us,” said Durso. “You are here to make the world better by doing great things. I love helping people change their lives by connecting them with other remarkable people, by helping them see advantages and opportunities that will make their companies better, and by unlocking their potential as leaders.”

American Community Journals Publisher and CEO Ken Knickerbocker said Durso will help the company reach new heights.

“As a former client, John understands our unique ability to share positive, upbeat stories with tens of thousands of suburban Philadelphia professionals and to get our affiliate partners’ stories in the news,” said Knickerbocker.

“John’s passion, extensive professional network, and marketing know-how and energy will propel us as we strengthen our local coverage and extend our network beyond the Delaware Valley.”

Durso is excited to join the ACJ team and is especially appreciative of the company’s mission to spread positive news and celebrate the good in our world.

“Ken and I had many phone calls and Zoom meetings during the pandemic,” said Durso. “We learned several things. First, there is a hole in the news business.  Too many agencies lead with stories that bleed.  Too much negativity.  Ken’s vision for ACJ is to make our subscribers’ lives better by delivering them stories about all the fun, cool, positive businesses that are doing amazing things and making a difference in their county” said Durso.  “We want to be a driving force in helping you start your day off with a story that will put a smile on your face and make you feel proud of your community and the people in it.  When asked to be part of something that positive and special, well, I had to say yes!”

Durso’s other clients were thrilled to hear of his appointment as COO of American Community Journals.

“What I learned about John through our interaction is that he is all about lifting other people up and cultivating a culture of service, leading strongly by his own example,” said Sarah Mayland, owner of Mayland Fitness and Wellness Coaching. “He is about finding the strengths in others, leveraging those strengths for the greater good of any organization he’s a part of, and empowering everyone to feel that they have something valuable to contribute. He is honest, trustworthy, and is a man who truly walks his talk. John makes a positive impact wherever he goes, and it’s wonderful that American Community Journals has the opportunity to experience that impact firsthand.”
