Katie Walker, who served as the president of the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce from 2005 to 2012, will return to the same position.

Effective June 14, Walker will replace Shannon Royer as president of the chamber. Royer is leaving to become the director of legislative and external affairs for Main Line Health.

“I am excited to be returning to the West Chester Chamber,” said Walker. “This organization plays a key role in helping our local job providers and enhancing the quality of life in our region. It’s a great honor to serve as president as we rebuild and recover from the economic effects of the pandemic.”

Walker most recently served as the executive director for the Association of Title IX Administrators (ATIXA). She has also held leadership positions at the SkillsUSA Council in Allentown, Greater Harleysville and North Penn Senior Services, YMCA of the Brandywine Valley, and Delaware County Chamber of Commerce.

“Katie’s experience serving as the GWCC president between August 2005 and April 2012, coupled with her vast knowledge of and experience with nonprofit organizations, makes her an excellent choice as the next leader for our chamber,” said board chair Matt Shea. “She will be a tremendous asset in assisting the chamber’s growth and ability to serve the local business community.”

Shea also thanked Royer for his hard work and dedication to the chamber over the last several months.

“Shannon did a phenomenal job leading the chamber during a critical period, and we’ll miss him as our president,” said Shea. “However, we’re pleased that he’s agreed to continue his involvement and support of the chamber.”

Royer said he is proud to have been affiliated with GWCC.

“This is a remarkable group of people doing extraordinary things for businesses and families in the West Chester area,” he said.
