Although electric vehicles are still a niche market, Kennett Square-based Landhope Farms is looking to the future by adding charging stations at more of its locations, writes Scott Sturgis for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Since October, Landhope has had a pair of charging stations at two of its locations, and it’s planning to add another pair at its Cochranville location. The company also does not charge for use of their chargers; drivers merely pay the ChargePoint fees.

According to Gerard DiBona, Landhope’s corporate operations project manager, the company is well-positioned for an EV future, thanks in part to its spacious parking lots.

So far, the four chargers have had little use. In the past eight months, they have had three unique customers and around 50 charging sessions. However, this could potentially change in the future.

“As the development of the electric car starts to progress and things start to move along, we expect to see more use of them,” said DiBona. “We positioned them in that area (of the parking lot) in the event that things do pick up, we can actually build additional stations.”
