Disc golf first became a thing in the mid-1970s in (where else?) California, and in the ensuing decades, its popularity spread nationwide, including to the Philadelphia suburbs. Two of the best courses around are in Chester County, writes Nick Vadala for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Disc golf, that frisbee-golf hybrid, uses specialized discs in place of golf balls and clubs. But the object remains the same: tee to target in as few “strokes” (tosses) as possible.

Kerr Park in Downingtown has an 18-hole course that offers a fun, varied layout. The first few holes are out in the open, followed by a more challenging stretch through the woods. It then continues along and across the Brandywine Creek, before finishing back in the open field.

Meanwhile, Camp Sankanac in Spring City has a well-maintained 18-hole course. It offers a lot of variety, from easy shots to ones that truly test your skills.

And if you are looking to buy disc golf gear, Frolic in Exton has you covered.
