Chester County is still at a very high risk level for coronavirus, with the number of cases continuing to decrease in the past two weeks but still remaining high, according to The New York Times.

Although the number of hospitalized patients and COVID-19-related deaths in that period has fallen, the test positivity rate remained very high, which suggests that the number of cases may be undercounted.

In the past two weeks, an average of 181 cases per day was reported in the county, which is a 34 percent decrease from two weeks ago. Since the start of the outbreak, approximately one in 19 residents have been infected.

December remains the month with the highest number of reported cases in Chester County so far.

Meanwhile, the average ICU occupancy was at 73 percent as of Jan. 28, falling slightly compared to the previous month but remaining the same as seven days prior.

The rate of cases in Chester County is in line with those of the neighboring counties, most of which still remain at a very high risk level.
