The iconic Handel’s Ice Cream in Berwyn has found its new home right across the street from its current location on Lancaster Avenue, writes Caroline O’Halloran for SAVVY Main Line.

Once construction is finished, the beloved ice cream shop will move into the brick building owned by Eadeh Enterprises that was previously home to Chic & Simple Resale For Her.

The owner of the shop, Buck Buchanan, lives in Devon but has no intention of leaving his business’s current town.

“We’re committed to Berwyn,” he said. “We’re trying to create even more of a town square atmosphere.”

Buchanan is hoping that the township will install a crosswalk across Lancaster Avenue to make it possible for Berwyn Village families to still walk for ice cream.

“The plan is to rearrange the parking and create a patio that’s not part of the parking lot, so folks can order and enjoy ice cream safely,” said Stacey Ballard, president of Eadeh Enterprises.

The ice cream shop will stay open at its current location until its new location is ready, which will most likely happen by March or April.
