Chester County Home to the Best Affordable Place to Live in Pennsylvania

Chester County is home to the most affordable place in Pennsylvania that offers a high quality of life at a manageable cost of living, according to a new list published by Stacker.

To create the Best Affordable Places to Live in Every State, Stacker analyzed Niche.com data, starting with its Best Places to Live rankings that consider 15 quality of life factors, including weather, public schools, nightlife, and diversity grades. Then, Stacker identified places with a more affordable cost of living based on nine metrics such as home values, monthly rent, grocery, and gas prices.

Berwyn, with a population of 3,405, came out on top for the Keystone State. The census-designated place has a median household income of $100,857, with a 4.6 percent unemployment and a 3.2 percent poverty rate.

Berwyn’s median home value is currently at $445,600, which is 145.9 percent above the Pennsylvania average and 141.3 percent above the national average.

Meanwhile, the median monthly rent at $578 is 34.7 percent below the Pennsylvania average and 39.1 percent below the national average.

Also, Berwyn is part of the high-performing Tredyffrin/Easttown School District.
