Esteemed Swimming Coach Who Earned his Master’s Degree from WCU Dies at 86

William Logue, a longtime swimming coach at Drexel who earned his master’s degree in physical education from West Chester University, has died at the age of 86, writes Matthew De George for Swimming World magazine.

During his storied career, Logue led several swimming programs, including the one at Drexel for 23 years until he retired in 1991.

Logue graduated from Slippery Rock in 1955 and was inducted into its Athletic Hall of Fame in 1990.

While working toward his master’s degree at WCU, he coached football in the Tredyffrin-Easttown School District, along with swimming and diving at Great Valley Swim Club and East Whiteland Swim Club.

At Drexel, Logue posted three undefeated seasons and five conference titles with the men’s team. With the women’s team, he won six conference titles and two coach-of-the-year honors. He was also named the 1979 National Coach of the Year by the Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW).
