Malvern resident Don Donatoni added another victory to his impressive list of golfing achievements by winning the Legends Division at the inaugural Friendship Cup in Canada, according to a report from AmateurGolf.com.

The Friendship Cup was played at Ussher’s Creek Course at Legends on the Niagara. It brought together seniors, super seniors, and legends for individual and team play.

Donatoni shot a five-over-par 221, which was more than enough to be victorious. The win also helped cement the United States’s dominance of the host country, with victories in all three team competitions.

The 71-year-old Donatoni, who represents White Manor Country Club in Malvern, intends to golf for as long as he can.

“I think the game means so much to me (that) I’m going to continue to play unless I begin to embarrass myself,” Donatoni told the Golf Association of Philadelphia. “I’ll know when to quit. It’ll be obvious. Even now, as I advance into my 70s, I feel I’m physically and mentally capable of playing well. When I look back over the last few years, I’ve been able to maintain a certain consistent level of play, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon, unless I develop or sustain an injury.”
