Honey Brook-based Genesis Packaging Technologies will play a significant role in the distribution of a COVID-19 vaccine when one becomes widely available, writes Evan Jones for the Daily Local News.

The company makes the equipment that seals the vials that carry the doses of medicine used in injections.

According to the company’s website, Genesis designs, develops, and builds vial cappers “with innovative technologies that meet the technical challenges of parenteral pharmaceutical packaging, assuring seal integrity in compliance with advancing regulatory requirements for aseptic processing and container closure integrity.”

Genesis works with pharmaceutical companies all over the world, according to General Manager Eric Stone, which means that if you received a flu shot this year, the needle poked through a cap likely made by Genesis.

“It’s a high likelihood that it was sealed on one of our cappers,” he said.
