Railroads have played a large part in the state’s history, dating back to before the Civil War and the Industrial Revolution. Then, trains were the driving force that helped take the nation into a new frontier.
Today, these same railroads provide a calming and stress-free ride to be enjoyed by travelers from near and far.
The 150-year-old West Chester Railroad is the best example of this. It’s run by the West Chester Railroad Heritage Association for the enjoyment of locals and tourists.
The historic railroad runs along the beautiful Chester Creek and continues to Glen Mills. Once it arrives there, it doubles back to complete the 90-minute trip.
The main loading hub for the antique train is West Chester Station, formerly known as Market Street Station.
