Owen J. Roberts Grad Making Best of Unique Start to Her Field Hockey Career at Penn State

In December 2019, Julia Lamb of Owen J. Roberts High School signed her National Letter of Intent to play field hockey at Penn State.

Phoenixville native and Owen J. Roberts High School graduate Julia Lamb is making the most of a unique start to her collegiate field hockey career as a freshman at Penn State, according to a report from GoPSUsports.com.

“I have been able to connect with my teammates much sooner through Zooms and on social platforms,” Lamb said. “I have not been able to interact with them in person, but Zoom and FaceTime have been our major platforms to continue building the team atmosphere and relationship.”

Still, the transition to competing athletically at the collegiate level is not easy amidst a pandemic.

“We are in very unknown times, and it is extremely easy to let that get to my head, but as we get closer to a season, I need to be focused on that transition,” she said.

The midfielder chose to join the Nittany Lions because of PSU’s “incredible atmosphere and variety of majors to choose from.”

The Nittany Lions are coached by Delaware County native Charlene Morett-Curtiss, a Lansdowne-Aldan High School graduate, two-time Olympian, and legend in the field hockey community.
