Understanding Cash Flow-A Business Guide to Survival

On Wednesday, June 10, from 11 AM-1 PM, SCORE Chester & Delaware County is hosting a free webinar, “Understanding Cash Flow-A Business Guide to Survival.”

Sales and earnings are not enough to survive, just ask W.T Grant who had consistent earnings growth, yet went bankrupt. 

Ask Bernie Madoff, whose Ponzi scheme would have gone on had it not been for the lack of new cash inflows.  

In fact, the number two cause of business failures is not knowing the difference between earnings and cash!  Additionally, understanding the value of time in the cash equation is critical to business survival.

This virtual session led by Tom Faughnan will help you better understand the differences between cash and earnings as well as provide some suggestions as how to maximize cash.

Tom Faughnan retired as Chief Financial Officer from Axalta Coating Systems, (formerly DuPont Automotive Finishes), a $6 Billion global supplier to the automotive industry. 

From 1995 through 2004, he was the founder and CEO of Tech Services International, a limited liability corporation in Kennett Square.

The webinar will be hosted by attorney Frank P. Farmer Jr., who has a private law practice in Kennett Square.

If you are in the early stages of thinking about starting a small business, or if you have started up your business, and realized you missed a few things; if you are thinking about “becoming your own boss,” this is an opportunity you can’t miss!

Frank Farmer is hosting this free interactive webinar discussing the ‘nuts and bolts” for starting and operating a small business.

  • Need and usefulness of a business plan;
  • Selecting an organizational structure;
  • Fictitious name registration;
  • Licensing;
  • Employees vs. independent contractors;
  • Tax identification numbers.

This interview style presentation should be fun and full of practical tips and advice.

Frank Farmer has had a private law practice since 1980. He is a graduate of Widener School of Law and a member of the Pennsylvania Bar.

His law office is in Kennett Square but he provides services throughout the Delaware Valley, His concentration is in small business transactions, including  the representation of individuals and business entities; starting, and operating and/or buying/selling small businesses.

This program is being presented in partnership with the Small Business Development Centers of Kutztown and Widener Universities.
