Coatesville High School graduate Derrick Morgan, who played nine years in the NFL with the Tennessee Titans, wants to help revitalize Coatesville by focusing on its love for sports, writes J.F. Pirro for Main Line Today.

While he was growing up, Morgan had youth-level and high school teammates whom he believed were even more talented than he was. Sadly, though, many of them traveled down different paths.

“As a 13- or 14-year-old, I didn’t know how to process it,” he said. “It could’ve very easily been me.”

Today, Morgan is a managing partner of KNGDM Group. To help revitalize Coatesville, he and his network of investors purchased the so-called “Flats” last November with plans to build a sports complex and events center on the site.

Morgan’s idea has been welcomed by Coatesville residents who are hoping it can start the city on a path to long-term prosperity.

“Coatesville’s a special community with an incredible amount of pride, so it’s wonderful to see the people show an interest in his coming back,” Chester County Commissioner Josh Maxwell said of Morgan.
