Coatesville to Get New Theater
In the latest step to revitalize Coatesville, Revival Productions is working to convert the former Saint Stanislaus Catholic Church on Lincoln Highway and former school building on Church Street in the West End into a conservatory and professional theaters, writes Bill Rettew for the Daily Local News.
The Coatesville-based nonprofit plans to install around 300 retractable seats at the former church, as well as another 150 seats at the former school.
The two spaces will have a variety of uses, like hosting summer camps, an Edgar Allan Poe festival, plays, musicals, local bands, and dance lessons. There will also be a converted space for wedding receptions, banquets, and events.
Now, organizers are hoping to have a soft opening of the new space in October, with a few special events scheduled for then and the following month. A holiday musical and opening gala will take place in December.
“We know what arts can do for the community,” said Heather Grayberg, co-founder and executive artistic producer of Revival Productions. “Revival exists to create positive engagement with the arts, as well as acting as a catalyst for revitalization efforts.”
