After relocating from Cork, the second-largest city in Ireland, to Berwyn for his job with Pfizer 12 years ago, Paul Manning, a former member of Ireland’s national basketball team, took advantage of an opportunity to coach at the Westtown School, writes Kieran Doherty for The Echo, an Irish newspaper.

Before joining the Westtown School, which boasts one of the top scholastic basketball programs in America, Manning coached with East Coast Power, a King of Prussia-based AAU club.

“Basketball has been great to me,” he said. “Nearly all of my friends and our family friends in the U.S. have come through coaching basketball.”

Coaching at one of the top programs in the country has been a rewarding experience for Manning.

“A lot of the players in our program go on to play on a very high level with Division I colleges,” he said.

Earlier this year, Manning and his wife Natasha became U.S. citizens.

“(This) is home for us and our two boys, Lucas and Cian, who were both born in the U.S.,” he said.
