Downingtown East graduate Andrew DeFeo was one of the finalists in the 10th Annual Business Plan Competition organized by the Belk Center for Entrepreneurship at High Point University, according to a report from YES! Weekly.

The finalists competed for up to $10,000 in startup funds. The competition was open to HPU undergraduates and began with an application round in which 12 finalists were chosen. Judges then reviewed their startup plans and listened to the finalists present their pitches.

“The HPU Business Plan Competition is a conduit for young entrepreneurs to connect with investors and has served as a launching pad for new companies over the last 10 years,” said Kathy Elliott, Director of the Belk Center for Entrepreneurship.

DeFeo, a senior majoring in Business Administration, made it to the final with his proposal for Memorease, a Life Events Management platform that helps users remember the most important events in their lives. After all meaningful life events are entered into the user’s profile, the platform facilitates engagement between the user and their network. This ensures that they remember and send gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, and other important events.
