The Families First Coronavirus Response Act has authorized a new benefit called Pandemic-EBT to assist families with children who are eligible for free or reduced-price school meals. The benefit is for food only and will come on an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card, similar to a debit card.

Any household with a student who is eligible for free or reduced-price meals is able to receive P-EBT regardless of immigration status. Families with loss of incomes or job hours can still apply for school meals.

How do you apply?

  • Contact your local school for an application
  • Apply for both SNAP and NSLP online through COMPASS
  • Your EBT card will be delivered via mail – make sure your address information is up to date
  • For additional help and information for applying to SNAP, call Chester County’s SNAP hotline at 215-430-0556
