NBC recently honored The Barn at Spring Brook Farm with a $20,000 grant in recognition of the farm’s support for children with disabilities.

NBCUniversal recently recognized local nonprofit The Barn at Spring Brook Farm with a remarkable $20,000 grant, writes Yukare Nakayama and Emily Rose Grassi for NBC 10 Philadelphia.

The company provided the grant in recognition of The Barn’s supportive programming for children with disabilities. The West Chester nonprofit provides one-on-one and group programs to help participants gain verbal, non-verbal, and motor skills.

Executive director Jeanette Corgnati shared that feeding and caring for the farm animals helps children with physical, cognitive, and developmental disabilities gain confidence and new skills.

Founder Mary Beth Drobish opened the Barn at Spring Brook Farm in 2005. The accessible 17-acre farm now houses eighteen animals, including miniature horses, donkeys, and pigs.

The recent grant from NBCUniversal comes as a part of the company’s Local Impact Grants. The series of grants highlights the important work of local nonprofits throughout the country.

About the grant and the Barn’s impact, Corgnati said, “I think we all need to remember that as a community we raise each other up, we help each other grow and we do a lot more when supporting one another.”
