The Exton Region Chamber of Commerce will honor Maria O’Connell, the owner of Express Employment Professionals, with its 2019 Small Business Person of the Year Award at its annual dinner on Thursday, Sept. 19 at The Desmond.

The award recognizes the owner or CEO of an ERCC-affiliated business with 100 or less employees who demonstrates:

• original entrepreneurship and leadership
• staying power and positive response to adversity in a changing business environment
• community involvement and commitment to specific community projects

O’Connell’s franchise is based in Malvern, and it helps people find jobs and provides workforce solutions to businesses.

“As with any startup, the implementation and growth of a new business into a community requires support from so many people and organizations,” said O’Connell. “I have always believed that, with the right team at the right time, companies are unstoppable, and the possibilities of what can be achieved are limitless. The award recognizes a person from the Exton region who has achieved a significant and acknowledged level of success in his or her career and who has demonstrated leadership and a long-standing, unselfish commitment to improving the quality of life in the Exton region.
