St. Malachi Reserve made by The Farm at Doe Run in Coatesville was among the 20 finalists at the World Championship Cheese Contest held last week in Madison, Wis., according to a report from NBC15.

This local delicacy was one of a whopping 3,667 entries in more than 132 categories vying for the title of best in the world. And while first place went to Michael Spycher of Switzerland, the Chester County farm made it among the 20 best in the world, which is quite a feat in itself.

St. Malachi’s high rating is not surprising to anybody who has tried the cheese. It offers genuinely satisfying flavors of brown butter, pineapple, and coconut.

This dense flavor is the result of American cheesemaking at its best. The Farm at Doe Run practices sustainable and organic farming, as well as rotational grazing. This means that the cheese starts using the finest milk conceivable.

Another advantage St. Malachi has is that wheels of it are aged in stoned caves.
