Phoenixville native Kevin Negandhi, a popular host of ESPN’s SportsCenter, has signed a multi-year contract extension with the network, writes Rob Tornoe for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Since taking over as anchor on the 6 PM edition of SportsCenter two years ago, Negandhi, along with co-host Sage Steele, has been crucial in stabilizing the show’s ratings. SportsCenter saw its viewers drop during its experimental SC6 days.

However, during the fourth quarter of last year, the 6 PM SportsCenter was slightly up compared to the same period of the previous year. The show also recorded five months of viewership growth in 2019 and eight months in 2018. This is a significant achievement in an era when television ratings for everything outside of live sporting events has continued to slide.

Negandhi, who originally joined ESPN in 2006, is also a studio host for college football and has hosted Special Olympics coverage for the network.

“I like to be open-minded and just work,” said Negandhi.
