Joe Judge, a graduate of Lansdale Catholic High School and the New England Patriots’ wide receivers coach, has been hired as the next head coach of the New York Giants, writes E.J. Smith for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The 38-year-old Judge spent eight years with the Patriots, starting as a special teams assistant. Before the Patriots, Judge worked for three years as a football analyst for Alabama, studying under Nick Saban. He got his coaching start in 2005 with his alma mater, Mississippi State, as a graduate assistant.

In addition to his coaching duties, Judge is working on obtaining his Ph.D. in education.

News of Judge’s hiring came less than an hour after former Temple coach Matt Rhule was due to interview with the Giants. However, he instead accepted the offer to become the new head coach of the Carolina Panthers.
